What is the difference between initial and final tension?
2025-08-10
Initial tension is the tension in a new conductor immediately after it has been strung and sagged, before it is subjected to long-term loads. Final tension refers to the conductor's tension after it has experienced sustained periods of loading, stretching, and temperature changes over time. This long-term stretching, known as creep, reduces the overall tension. We provide equipment that accounts for both initial stringing and long-term tension behavior to ensure lasting performance.
